House Builders

Housebuilding is a fast-moving, highly competitive industry. Personal chemistry and a clear understanding between developer and adviser can go a long way towards making a deal as pain-free as possible and profitable. Our job as lawyers is to help you make things happen – and we do, using a combination of legal know-how, commercial experience and personal commitment. The quality of the relationships we form with clients is a distinctive part of our service.

Our housing lawyers work with national house builders and developers including five of the top ten names in housebuilding as well as a number of smaller developers, on sites ranging in size from 20 to 5,000 dwellings. We advise on everything from funding, site assembly and acquisition to planning and environmental issues, construction (including litigation) and procurement.

Some of the larger mixed use schemes we work on involve complex legal issues and challenging commercial dynamics; we draw on specialist expertise from within our own firm to resolve these efficiently and cost-effectively.

Unusually, our social housing lawyers work closely with our commercial housebuilding lawyers. Both sectors face similar legal issues, and the cross-fertilisation of ideas between the two sets of advisers can benefit both areas of practice.

Our social housing team acts for more than 200 registered landlords, including some of the country’s largest housing associations. We provide mainstream commercial property advice together with advice on housing management issues, governance, tax and employment law. Our specialist expertise in funding and loan work, regeneration and construction law helps our social housing clients tackle the full range of legal issues that they encounter in pursuing their goals.

The commitment and enthusiasm brought to a transaction by our house building team are second to none. Our house builder clients are rightly proud of what they produce; we are equally proud to be part of the foundations of their achievements.
